Opinions? I used to love them, but I think William Shatner was right, their show is mean spirited at its core. It's bad vibes. What's your opinion though? Do you see it as tonge in cheek and rather coming from a place of love than bitterness? Again for me maybe they started out that way but they seem pretty not nice with some of their portraials of what are not characters but are their real selves in their more serious discussions. Opinions?
>>464886 I don't watch it, but I did like the star wars and star trek thing, and yes the people making it are mean and bitter, most content makers are, doesn't really matter to the show if you know what you're doing
They're not bitter enough. Once in a while they gush over some recent movie and I watch it and wow it's hecking TRASH
>>464886 >RedditLetterMedia Where do you think you are?

Used to watch it too, but then they started beeping out swears which is a sure sign they've gone limp. I think mike is mean spirited, petty and bitter, the sort of guy that'd be an asshole for his own amusement and, ideally, the amusement of others, but rich is mostly dead inside, easy-going, and non-confrontational, and jay and all the second-stringers comes off as a a flock of colossal soyboy pussbags. I'm a massive dickwad myself and so i can laugh at cuntyness but not at pulling punches to please their bitchass paypigs who're funding their 'i dont have to work a 9-5 job anymore' lifestyle.
I wish they would review more romance movies and calm relaxing movies instead of stupid horror shit where that guy from con air is in like half of them.
>>464886 Shatner is right. The hosts are hacks. RLM intentionally leaves out or does not understand movies "for comedy" and regularly makes fun of its old audience. Doug was always the better movie reviewer. Even if he can make almost anything sound good and is sometimes pretentious, he approaches things with an open mind. Plinkett and RLM were contributing factors to Lucas selling Star Wars.
They're just Star Trek nerds. They don't understand anything else.
I've never liked it and them. I don't hold the opinion that they're mean spirited, it's rather that I don't appreciate their style and humour.
I think they're funny, but they're anti-White scum and they denigrate whites in most if not all of their videos.

They fell off a cliff comedically in 2021. Videos after that point just stopped being as entertaining and they keep saying stupid shit in more recent videos like the "starving children in Africa" comment when covering The Acolyte, which oddly enough was the first time I've heard them being spoken of in general media spheres since 2022. >>464939 Also this, they're at least partly to blame for the torrent of shit that is Disney's handling of Star Wars.

forgot i had these; pretty sure shaq meat and "ok, back to 9/11" are what got me to look into them
I loved the original Plinkett stuff and the rest of it used to be better when they were younger, but now it's darker and more sad because they're getting so old and still doing the same schtick. It's like Trailer Park Boys then vs now. That said, they reviewed two movies I worked on and it was fun to watch them tear them apart.
>>464998 >ok, back to 9/11 First part of the star wars holiday special was the peak.

The only stuff from them I really like is when they review random that aren't even movies. A channel that reviews things like a Burger King training video or some old "how to do magic tricks" tape from the '80s is at least doing something that not many others are doing. I think Mike's opinions on Star Wars are largely bad and often baseless, and he's lived to reap what he sowed as Disney now does things a little closer to what he said he wanted. Of course he knows it's all shit, but their refusal to admit on screen that a lot of it is due to the films being blatant propaganda doesn't do them any favors. I know they're doing it to avoid SJWs coming after them, but it makes them seem disingenuous. Rich is a likeable character, and when he and Mike get talking about Star Trek, at least their passion shines through, though I don't agree with all of their opinions. Jay seems at first like a pretentious snob, but I like that he can appreciate dumb slasher movies as well, and I like that genre, too, so I can find entertainment when he's talking about that stuff. And at least he doesn't really pretend to know about sci-fi, like the other two guys do. That skinny bald guy sucks and they should stop having him on. That big fat guy with the beard also sucks but maybe a little less. Those two Canadian guys they have on sometimes are at least actual industry special effects guys, which is kind of cool, and I liked that time they did a video about Strange Brew. But yeah there's a reason those guys aren't often remembered when anyone talks about the channel. And almost every celebrity guest star they ever have on sucks. I mean I like Home Alone, but MacCauley Culkin isn't actually funny and doesn't have insightful stuff to say. But I agree with him that The Last Dragon is a very entertaining movie.
>>465000 >two movies I worked on Which movies?
RLM aren't meaningfully different now to ten years ago, I remember a lot of anons turning on them because they dared to think the first Disney Star Wars was alright instead of jumping whole hog into culture war bullshit, said people ignore them not liking and mocking the later films. >their show is mean spirited at its core Not really? They love a lot of movies, they even like a lot of capeshit. Personally I stopped watching them because it's grown boring listening to the crew say the same thing about the same film sequels episode after episode. Their Plinkett reviews were hysterical but they're both very much a relic of 2000s internet, and something Mike quite openly doesn't want to work on anymore. I was excited for Pre-Rec but Jack and Rich wanted that to be game streams instead of RLM-esque reviews, which killed the channel pretty quickly. I would have loved to see Rich Evans dunking on the slop AAA gayming has become, and though they did a few reviews like that, it's not where they wanted the channel to go. Their The Order 1886 and Steam Controller videos are among my favorite RLM ever did.

>>465155 >I remember a lot of anons turning on them because they dared to think the first Disney Star Wars was alright instead of jumping whole hog into culture war bullshit, said people ignore them not liking and mocking the later films. It was a bad movie, and way worse than the prequels, which they made their fame on hating. Also, acknowledging it's bad isn't "jumping into culture war bullshit." Disney making the movie was jumping into culture war bullshit. The movie is bad very clearly at least partially due to Disney deciding to make it a piece of propaganda. Don't act like noticing someone doing something bad is the same as the person actually doing something bad.
