NIHON FALCOM THREAD: Forward Relentlessly Edition Anonymous 11/18/2023 (Sat) 02:48:20 Id: 3d9289 No. 908347
I was hoping to make it to the shareholders meeting before the old thread got bumped off but it looks like we'll miss it by a couple of weeks. >Latest News -Falcom's 2024 title is all but confirmed to be Kuro No Kiseki 3. We don't have a title or any details yet, though, and likely won't until the shareholder's meeting in December. -Ys X released on Playstation systems and Switch. As of now, no PC announcement has been made. CLE likely will make one going by their track record, but who's to say when. Durante and his team will eventually make one too, as the norm is now for them to release the Japanese PC version and patch in the localization later. Either way, we likely won't see fan translation efforts until a PC version materializes. Thankfully, the Switch version will at least mean easy access to the Japanese script, which was a major problem when trying to translate Kuro 2. Speaking of... -Kuro no Kiseki 2 has had it's main and sub scenarios translated. That is to say, main quest, side quests, events noted on the map and connect events. Most NPCs are still machine translated. This is following Kuro no Kiseki 1 which was completely translated down to the last NPC. This was all done before NISA even officially announced their Kuro localization. As long as they remain three years behind, this should stay the norm. >Fan-translations Kuro no Kiseki 1 Translation: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1nN-39bcBkES4Wg-3-rGlRqTARuQhGybB?usp=sharing Kuro no Kiseki 2 Translation: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/120XMXZinIOWUvzyFZj4bZRYBSoZGMChO?usp=drive_link Hajimari no Kiseki Translation (NPCs incomplete. >>1006244 On one hand, yay, but on the other I'm pretty tired of remakes. Potato sprites are perfect the way they are.
>>1006421 Remakes are generally the sign of a company that lack ambition to do greater things (or are trying to make a quick buck). Also it looks like a dated, desaturated PS3 game and the music in the trailer is a genericized arrangement. Plus the loss of isometric perspective really changes the feel of the game.
>>1006429 >Remakes are generally the sign of a company that lack ambition to do greater things I'd agree if Falcom weren't also making new games too. I don't even know which team is working on this because they have two other games being worked on right now, the last Calvard game and a new Xanadu game. >Also it looks like a dated, desaturated PS3 game Gonna disagree here. I think it's their best looking 3D game to date because they finally got the memo cell shading looks better than what they were doing before.
>>1006441 Look at the low color variety of the world and lack of detail in the environment compared to the OG they're showing in the trailer. It's only 1 notch above Neptunia imo. I liked the way the environments looked in the OG. The only good part is the character models, and even then they don't even let us see Estelle's ass when she's running. Also the new building, stone and object textures look like a fucking mobile game's (a trend I've been seeing in certain other games as of late, like FE Engage)
>>1006421 >If it's literally just the first game 1:1 but 3D I doubt they would do away with the QoL features from the modern titles, like seeing where all sidequests are, and having a clear indicator of when time is going to pass, so you don't miss any optional sidequests or interactions.
>>1006453 >I doubt they would do away with the QoL features from the modern titles, like seeing where all sidequests are, and having a clear indicator of when time is going to pass, so you don't miss any optional sidequests or interactions. Oh that for sure. Also you can already see you get into fights by hitting enemies on the overworld, which is already quite different than the caterpillar bump system in the first games. I'm not really considering marking Carnelia volumes or the location of the non-board side-quests as that drastic of a change. If all this was going to be was an HD asset improvement of the originals and then port to consoles they probably STILL would have overhauled the UI to do stuff like that. I was mostly talking about the actual structure of the game's plot or dialogue. It does not look like it's going to be some FF7R thing where it's way different. In fact, so far the dialogue has been 1:1. Obviously we haven't seen much yet, but still from what they've shown that's the case. >>1006449 >Look at the low color variety of the world and lack of detail in the environment compared to the OG they're showing in the trailer. I'm not asking if you think it's better than the spite games. I'm asking if you think it's better than Kuro or CS.

Kondo did it again. The bamboozle.
>>1018906 >To be continued I wonder if that means a DLC update or a whole new game. That ending is pretty interesting though. I wonder how the full game is.
(1.96 MB 1730x695 ReanCockpit.png)

>>1019001 We are unsure for now, but it seems like a full game to me. There's still quite a bit to resolve. Ultimately I liked what I saw of Kai way more than Kuro 2 which had a lot of problems. The game has an admittedly really slow start but it picks up as it goes and I think the finale is legitimately quite good. I was kind of half expecting a cliff-hangar because it's just a Kondo thing to do so I don't think I was as caught off guard as some were.

Kai subs when?
(19.62 MB 1280x720 EmiliaKiss.webm)

>>1038091 I mean technically there are already mtl subs for several playthroughs. For live MTL they were surprisingly good. It obviously fucks up with things like names and pronouns as per usual, but if you know the context you can still understand like 95% of everything happening. As for the game itself you'll have to wait for CLE to release it's PC version. Hopefully they won't take too long and it won't be as big a fuckup as Ys X. Kuro and Kuro 2 ports were fine so hopefully since this is Trails again it won't be bad. Because of how far MTL has gotten people could probably turn around a serviceable translation pretty quickly. Nisa might be aiming to speed up though (big rumor is they're gonna try and get Kai in next fall bringing the turnaround on Trails to one year) so they'd have to get on it fast.
>>1038196 Live MTL's cool, RetroArch also features live MTL that can translate emulated games on the fly either as speech or text
The founder of Falcom went and passed away https://archive.vn/un4oE
>>1051964 Despite being named Chairman of the Board last year Kato's influence at the company definitely seemed diminished over the last ten years or so. It'll be interesting to see if anything changes at all.
>>1051964 Very sad news.
>>1051964 RIP >>1051978 I doubt anything will change but we'll see.
>Ys X: Proud Nordics announced >Falcom has announced Ys X: Proud Nordics, an upgraded version of Ys X: Nordics with a new story, a new setting, and many more new elements. Im right in the middle of playing nordicks and now they announced an upgraded version with a new story...
>>1052791 No word on an English version yet though.
>>1038270 >Live MTL's cool, RetroArch also features live MTL that can translate emulated games on the fly either as speech or text Feels like how I imagined the future.
>>1052818 If there's no English version maybe fans do one, newer games are easier to mod.
>>1052818 >No word on an English version yet though. good hopefully that means its not been toned down to appeal to westerners.

Celceta is getting a Switch port during 2025, so the Nintendo console is only missing the Ys I & II remakes, Ark of Napishtim and Seven amongst Ys titles from the Playstation handheld era. Ys vs. Sora no Kiseki: Alternative Saga (the old PSP crossover game) is also getting a re-release on all current platforms (Playstation, Switch and PC)
>>1052791 Good, Ys X story barely resembles a Ys story, felt like i was playing a shittier version of a kiseki story.
When do I get to play Dinosaur Resurrection?
CLE Kai PC port out next week. From what I hear the JP script got lifted from a leak a while back. This is good news. One of the biggest hurdles for the Kuro 2 translation was not having a copy of the JP script available (since Japanese MTL is infinitely better than Chinese and Korean) so all being well a translation should happen reasonably quickly.

Chocobump.
Since someone bumped, the patch for Kai is coming along nicely. However apparently there's a snag with Van act 3 and progress has been stalled for a few days. I didn't want to post a link to the patch until you could at least play through the whole main story with edited content. Editing the script fixes bugs that crop up too.

>>1074182 Thank you, anon. Do you know if there's a handy progress tracking visual as was for the previous project? >e4f081340c70f0eaef02889ec53c1578fdc7cdb15485a4a0bcb3b3bfa70cafc9.png I think about patting Altina every single day.
>>1074185 > Do you know if there's a handy progress tracking visual as was for the previous project? It's definitely not as fancy this time. The mega just has an anon copy paste each update into a txt file so you just kinda have to go through everything and make a bit of an estimation. From what I'm aware of: >Prologue is done >Act 1 (which is entirely Van) has main story, connect events and sidequests done >Act 2 has all main quest, side quest and connect events done for Van, Rean and Kevin. >Act 3 has main quest, connect events and sidequests done for Rean and Kevin, however the Anchorville files are what are causing the issue right now so Van Act 3 is still just MTL except for a few specific areas. >Finale is still fully MTL and this leads to some music and other things not firing when they should >Grim Garten is fully translated >Most of the menus are edited and fine >All character and boss introductions are still in Korean as is every tutorial that is a PNG because no one's gone in and edited those >Newspapers, books, pamplets and stuff are still messy MTL >NPCs in every chapter are still MTL, though admittedly MTL is much better this time due to having the Japanese script so they're at least understandable. I've come across a few districts where the MTL for NPCs didn't get ported in for some reason. >Keep in mind "done" means "edited." Pretty much every section could use an editing pass. A few things have fallen through the cracks here and there. Moreover I still feel certain word choice is a little clunky or sometimes just flat out feels wrong (I noticed things like the word "overseas" being used for international which doesn't make sense for the setting as an example).
(1.30 MB 1400x900 126836549_p0.png)

I feel the need to say that I'm still out of sorts about the original trilogy being remade. I'm inclined to feel aggrieved that Falcom aren't spending their limited time on a new and more challenging project, but they're finally gaining more traction in the growing market; so I can understand why it might be better for them to do this. Tragically, I am also rather pleased to think that more people are enjoying and will enjoy Kiseki. NiSA being at all involved is still so unfortunate. Why can they not do a Xanadu Next style of title? I've probably mentioned this before, but it would really be so good for Falcom to use their bettering 3D skills on an original or throwback title that can put up a fight against more popular JRPGs. Am I dreaming? >>1074204 >NPCs in every chapter are still MTL, though admittedly MTL is much better this time due to having the Japanese script so they're at least understandable. Thank God. No one should ever have to pay for anything in mummies. >I've come across a few districts where the MTL for NPCs didn't get ported in for some reason This is a shame. And I wonder what exactly the problem with that part of act three is.
>>1074185 >Do you know if there's a handy progress tracking visual as was for the previous project? I guess there is one now. Also the problem with Anchorville seems fixed and it's being worked on now.
